It’s no secret that the students of Watauga High School are some of the number one fans of the grill-style fast food restaurant, Cook-Out. The chain offers perfectly crispy chicken tenders, mouth-watering fresh grilled burgers, fries seasoned to perfection, and over 50 flavors of creamy, hand-made milkshakes. Cook-Out is perfect for satisfying your late-night cravings, as it is open until 4:30am. It’s also located in the heart of Boone- a very convenient location. With so many options and so many hours in the day, one must wonder what foods, drinks and times WHS students prefer when it come to Cook-Out. So, on September 28, all of the students at Watauga High School were emailed a survey that would forever end the Cook-Out questions.
We have compiled some easy-to-read graphs to help visualize WHS’s Cook-Out appetite.
The most popular main item is, by far, chicken strips. This isn’t very surprising since many people love the strips’ seasoning and extra crispy breading. Cajun chicken is the second most popular choice, so obviously, Cook-Out has some pretty good chicken.

Over a third of people order fries as their first side. Twenty percent order cajun fries. As with the main orders, the most popular choices are the classics and their cajun alternates.

The second side results are more varied, but original fries still has the highest percentage.

Cook-Out’s main claim to fame is their wide selection of fresh made milkshakes, so it’s no shock that most people pay the $1 upcharge and order one with their trays.

Because there are over 50 flavors (not counting secret menu items), we expected the results for milkshake choice to be very spread out. But, surprisingly, over ⅕ of the people that responded said they ordered the oreo milkshake. Obviously, this flavor has something special going on, because the next most popular choice, Hershey's Chocolate, is only chosen by approximately 1/10 people.

So there you have it. Hopefully we have answered all of the questions you have about Cook-Out trays. Feel free to respond below with your go-to tray!
