AP Student Reflection

As the year comes to a close and AP testing has been concluded, I find myself reflecting on my experience with Advance Placement classes. As a junior, I had a fairly light load with only English 305 and AP US History, but I was very impressed with everything that I have learned, accomplished, and overcome this school year. With every past school year, I have felt like I’ve grown as a student, but this year I know I’ve grown as a person.
Not only do harder classes have great teachers, they teach you to question what you’ve always been told, and to learn beyond what is required. They teach you time management and prioritization (these two things being the hardest!!). But the most important thing that you learn from your teachers is how to write. The written word is so important for allowing yourself to put thoughts onto paper. I have learned this year that getting your ideas out is the most important thing; school isn’t just about showing up and answering questions -- it’s about taking what you've learned and applying it to the real world. School is about learning as much as possible because you're aloud to; test yourself and challenge yourself because you will never get a free educational opportunity like this ever again.
Tips for AP’s would be to not overload and overwhelm yourself, take as much as you can handle, stay on top of the assignments (it will build up), and try to get projects done early so that it doesn’t feel like such a struggle at the last minute. Not gonna lie I didn’t take any of these tips seriously until the last two months of the school year but they really do help! Have fun and good luck to all of the incoming AP students!
