Technology has impacted education so much in the past decade. Technology has created a plethora of opportunities for teachers and students that would not be available without technology. Watauga High School has provided every teacher and student a laptop for educational purposes. Many textbooks and books have phased out because a lot of teachers give out links so that students do not have to lug around textbooks and papers. In almost all of my English classes, we type and submit all of our essays and writings online. A lot of my teachers have started to utilize Google Classroom. With Google Classroom, teachers can set due dates, post announcements to their individual classes, receive assignments, and return assignments. Students can now view all of their grades online using Canvas. Students and teachers can email at any time. Technology had a positive impact on students and teachers in a lot of ways.

Although many people fear the continual growth of technology, I believe that the positives outweigh the negatives when it comes the mixing of technology and education. Students have begun to be more engaged in learning because the internet has allowed everyone to research what interests them at anytime.

I intern in a kindergarten class at Hardin Park , and the classroom has iPads for the students to use for reading and other learning games. The iPads allow students to complete their learning games and assignments at their own pace. The students also think that the iPads are super fun so the iPads are a motivation for the students to learn. It is crazy how far technology has come in schools, even since I was in kindergarten.

The internet has also created many opportunities for teachers. Teachers can easily communicate with other teachers throughout the school. Watauga High School has provided some classrooms with additional online learning software. In my Spanish class, we use “Voces Textbooks”” that has online assignments, games, quizzes, and tests. Teachers now put all of their grades in software on their computer and this allows students to see all of their grades instantly.
